Clear next steps, so you know what we’re focusing on and why
Everyone's pregnancy is different. We can't promise specific results, but we'll always be clear about what we are doing, why and what options you have.
Pelvic and lower-back discomfort during pregnancy
Pregnancy can sometimes be accompanied by discomfort around the pelvis, hips and lower back. This can affect everyday activities such as walking, turning in bed, getting dressed or getting in and out of a car.
If you’re experiencing these symptoms, we’ll assess your individual circumstances and discuss whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you. Where another healthcare professional is better placed to help, we’ll tell you.

Can I see a chiropractor if I have back or pelvic discomfort during pregnancy?

Can chiropractic care help with pregnancy sciatica?
Sciatica can occur during pregnancy and can be uncomfortable. Your chiropractor can assess your individual presentation and discuss appropriate options with you. Where another form of care is more appropriate, we’ll let you know.
Can I see you for pelvic girdle pain (PGP)?
We can assess women experiencing pelvic and lower-back discomfort during pregnancy and discuss whether chiropractic care is appropriate. If your symptoms require input from another healthcare professional, we’ll recommend that you speak with your midwife, GP or maternity team.
How far into pregnancy can I have chiropractic care?
There isn’t a single answer that applies to everyone. Your care will be considered in the context of your stage of pregnancy, symptoms, health and individual circumstances. Do reach out we are here to help where we can!
Can I bring my baby or children to my appointment?
Absolutely. Babies and children are welcome at Flourish. We understand that feeding, settling and taking breaks are simply part of life with a little one.
Do I need a referral from my GP or midwife?
You don’t generally need a referral to book an appointment. However, if you have any concerns about your pregnancy or your symptoms, it’s always appropriate to speak with your midwife, GP or maternity team.
What should I wear to a pregnancy chiropractic appointment?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Loose, comfortable clothing is usually easiest and you won’t need to bring anything special.
What if I’m not sure whether chiropractic care is right for me?
That’s completely fine. You can book a free 15-minute discovery call to talk through what you’re experiencing and find out whether an appointment at Flourish would be appropriate.
If you’re experiencing symptoms that concern you or you’re unsure whether they’re related to your pregnancy, contact your midwife, GP or maternity team. If you have urgent concerns about your pregnancy, seek appropriate medical advice rather than waiting for a chiropractic appointment.
